Works in Our Shire in May

Shire works projects and maintenance works currently scheduled in our shire for May:

Works Projects:

  • Road construction works at Alexandra Bridge Hall and Fire Shed, Alexandra Bridge: Works to construct a new internal Road at the fire shed for improved access to the fire unit fill point at this location began in mid-April. Works will take two to four weeks to complete. These works are funded by Lotterywest Grant funding.
  • Path and drainage upgrade works on Redgate Rd, Witchcliffe: Works commenced in mid-April and will take a few weeks to complete. During the day, traffic management will be in place for the duration of works. 
  • Repair of the bridge at Scott River: Following Main Roads Western Australia’s (MRWA) routine inspection of bridge 4898 over Scott River, significant failures have been noted and a lane restriction has been put in place. We are working with MRWA to arrange for repairs so that these restrictions can be lifted as soon as possible. We will provide an update on the timing of these repairs when we can.
  • Drainage renewal works on Curtis Street, Cowaramup: Gravel shoulder reconstruction works in various locations throughout the shire.

Maintenance Works:

  • Car park maintenance at Hairy Marron, Margaret River
  • Pump shed installation at Symphony Waters
  • Irrigation and turf installation at Symphony Waters
  • Drainage debris clearing at the park on Ryans Road
  • Drainage debris clearing at Brookfield park entrance
  • Installation of Dog Exercise Area fencing and installation of two bench seats on Leschenaultia Ave, Brookfield 
  • Garden edging at Cowara Heights
  • Playground maintenance & inspections around the shire
  • Treatment and painting at Pioneer Park Sound Shell
  • Treatment and painting of the arbour at Yellow Gum Walk, Margaret River
  • Painting poles and picnic tables at Skate Park, Margaret River
  • Seasonal oval maintenance in preparation for winter
  • Furniture treatment & painting in public open spaces around the shire: This service includes removal of graffiti, cleaning and sealing the timber
  • Painting of toilets at Riflebutts: Riflebutts public toilets are scheduled to be closed from 13 -27 May (weather dependent) for painting. There will be portable toilets available during this time adjacent to the playground.

For all our projects use an alternative route if possible. Please drive carefully and follow traffic control signage.

Throughout these works, there will be traffic management in place, including road closures at times.
