Tip Shop
Opening hours: Open Saturdays and Sundays 8am to 4pm (except Christmas Day, New Year’s Day and Good Friday).
Have a browse through the Tip Shop and grab yourself a bargain. If you have any items suitable for the tip shop, let the gate attendants know on arrival.
Transfer stations (for residents without kerbside collections)
Transfer stations are only available for residents/ratepayers who do not have access to the kerbside collection service.

Important notes
- Only residents with a Shire authorised smart card can access these facilities. See below for information on rural waste transfer facility access card for rural residents.
- Bulk waste items are not accepted at any transfer stations and must be brought to the Davis Road Recycling and Waste Management Facility for disposal/recovery.
Rural waste transfer facility access card (smart card access)
Rural residents who have a habitable dwelling on their property and do not receive a kerbside collection service are provided with a rural waste transfer facility access card.
The access card can be used for up to 52 disposals of 0.25 cubic metres (the equivalent of a wheelie bin) of domestic household waste.
Domestic waste is defined as normal household waste suitable for disposal via a regular kerbside waste bin collection.
Household waste that does not meet the criteria, such as mattresses, bulky items, and cupboards, will be charged under the current Shire disposal fees and charges. This service is not for Commercial business disposal.
Rural waste transfer facility access cards (smart card) are assigned to properties based on their locality. If you are allocated a smart card for a waste facility you do not use, please contact our team on (08) 9780 5255 to update your preferences.
Containers and plastic recycling
Containers for Change (for eligible containers)
You can collect eligible containers and take them to a refund point to earn money for yourself or make a donation to a worthy local cause.
Most aluminium, glass, plastic, steel and liquid paperboard drink containers between 150ml and 3L are eligible.

Precious Plastics (for plastic bottle tops and lids)
You can save your plastic bottle tops and container lids, then take them to the Precious Plastic drop off points located at several community drop off points. This innovative group turns bottle tops and lids into surfboard fins, plant pots, and other items.

The drumMUSTER Program (for agricultural and veterinary chemical containers)
As a local environmental initiative, the drumMUSTER Program collects and recycles eligible, pre-cleaned agricultural and veterinary chemical containers.
Drums with the drumMUSTER logo can be returned to the Davis Road Recycling and Waste Management Facility only.

All residential properties that receive the kerbside collection service pay an annual fee for their 3-bin FOGO collection. See our Waste Management Fees and Charges for details.
Waste collection, processing and disposal costs are increasing, along with environmental and legislative requirements. The Shire sets fees at a sustainable level to make sure waste is managed responsibly and the impact on our local environment is minimised.

The annual 3-bin FOGO kerbside collection service fee includes the costs associated with collection, transportation and processing of all three waste streams.
The waste streams include landfill (red-lid general waste bin), recycling (yellow-lid recycling bin) and FOGO (lime-green lidded food scraps bin).
All rateable properties within the Shire, including vacant land, commercial and industrial properties, are required to pay the Waste Facility Maintenance Rate regardless of whether they have kerbside collection.
This rate is exclusively used to fund the upkeep of the Shire’s waste facilities, including upgrades, equipment and maintenance. Most funds support the Davis Road Recycling and Waste Management Facility in Witchcliffe, where general waste is landfilled and materials such as scrap metal, green waste, e-waste and batteries are processed for reuse.
