Living in Harmony with the Seasons

Everyone that lives in Augusta Margaret River relies on our country, from our water to our food sources.

We kindly ask that while living and moving around Wadandi Boodja (Our Country), that you tread lightly and take time to listen to and observe the changes in our seasons. By following natures gentle guidance and making small changes in our lives alongside the seasons, we can ensure that our natural resources are not depleted and our environment is protected.

When it comes to living in harmony with the land and environment, we just need to look to the Wadandi and Pibelmen people (cultural custodians of the South West WA) who have lived here since the land was soft and through generations of knowledge being passed on, have a deep connection to and understanding of what it means to care for Country. This includes following an ancestral six season calendar, known as the Six Seasons of Wadandi.

Sometimes it can feel like our small actions don't make a difference however this is your friendly reminder that they do and by taking coordinated action alongside the Shire, we can do amazing things to care for our place, together.
