The Shire has experienced ongoing erosion associated with the region’s clay soils.
Preventing erosion and downstream sedimentation not only improves environmental habitats and the function of natural waterways, but it also reduces the risk of flooding (from the blockage of drainage infrastructure); reduces the costs associated with supplying sand; and improves the streetscape for the community by removing sand and waste from roads and verges.
The following information sheet provides advice on:
- Site assessment
- Sediment control requirements
- Sediment control fences
- Site management plan
- Inspection and maintenance.
