The Shire of Augusta Margaret River is committed to supporting major events of State or National significance that attract visitors, generate economic activity, engage the community and promote the region.
Major Events Grants funding
We look to support events with funding of up to $20,000 per year (inc GST) for events that:
- Attract visitors as participants, spectators and support crews
- Maximise the economic benefits to local businesses
- Are inclusive, foster healthy lifestyles and are respectful of the local community
- Are environmentally responsible and support the preservation of our unique natural environment.
Applications for 2024-25 Major Events Grants are now closed.

Acquittal forms
A Major Events Grant Acquittal form and Budget Acquittal template can be downloaded below and must be completed by all recipients of Major Events Grants funding within one month after event completion.
Grant recipients (previous years)
Successful recipients of Major Events Grants for 2024-25 include Margaret River Region Open Studios (MRROS) $20,000, Cabin Fever $18,000, Cape to Cape Mountain Bike Race $16,000, Lunar Circus $14,500, Creative Corner's Emergence Creative Festival $14,500 and Kiteboarding WA's Core Big Air Nationals $10,000. All amounts include GST.
Successful recipients of Major Events Grants for 2023-24 included Rapid Ascent Ultramarathon $10,000, Strings Attached WA Guitar Festival $10,000, Fine Vines $7,500 and Kiteboarding WA for the Augusta Big Air Nationals $7,500. All amounts include GST.
Successful recipients of Major Events Grants for 2022-23 included CinefestOz $22,000, Strings Attached WA Guitar Festival $12,100, Fine Vines $9,900, in addition to Margaret River Readers & Writers Festival $16,500, Cabin Fever $11,000, Cape to Cape Mountain Bike Race $11,000, Kiteboarding Australia Wave Nationals $8,250, Lunar Circus $8,250, Margaret River Region Open Studios (MRROS) $13,750, Rapid Ascent Ultramarathon $11,000 and the Margaret River Pro $22,000. All amounts include GST.
