Rare Number Plates Available for Purchase this March!

Twenty five (25) of the Shire’s district "AU" number plates will be available for residents to purchase this March.

The AU number plates only become available when existing car owners relinquish them or convert them to an alternate type of number plate, making them extremely valuable. 

The Shire is expecting there to be significant interest in this year’s release, given that there were no plates released in 2023.

Plates will be available from 9am, Thursday 21 March 2024 at the Shire Offices in Margaret River. 

Important things to note include: 

• Customers must bring their current number plate in on the day to have it swapped over
• The cost to swap plats is $31.10
• Customers need to bring their own driver’s license (plates cannot be secured on behalf of another person)
• Customers will be able to select their preferred number from the list of available plates on a first-come, first-served basis
