Beaches Reopened – Tuesday 25 July 2023

Beaches stretching from Gas Bay to Margaret River Mouth Beach have been reopened.

These beaches had been closed following a shark bite incident at Boat Ramp surfing spot, near Gnarabup Beach where a male surfer was bitten by a suspected white shark at approximately 8.45am on Monday 24 July 2023, as confirmed by the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development (DPIRD).

Community members are encouraged to take additional caution in the Gnarabup and Prevelly area.

If you see a shark, please report it to Water Police on 9442 8600. All shark sighting information reported to Water Police is provided to land managers and relevant authorities.

For your ongoing safety please ensure you use your Sea Sense and stay informed by checking for shark activity on the SharkSmart website, SharkSmart WA app or Surf Life Saving WA’s Twitter feed.
