
The world’s best surfers are returning to Surfers Point from 17-27 May for the Western Australia Margaret River Pro.
As we approach this iconic event, here’s some key dates and important info for our locals including event setup, pack down and access to Surfers Point and Rivermouth Beach.Event Set Up (2 to 16 May)
- Event site set up will take place from 6am to 6pm, from 2 May to 16 May.
- The Surfers Point car park will be closed from 6am on Monday 12 May to Friday 30 May.
During the Event (17 to 27 May)
- The Western Australia Margaret River Pro event dates are from Saturday 17 May to Tuesday 27 May and there will be no vehicle access to Surfers Point Road from Rivermouth Road during this time.
- The Surfers Point to Rivermouth footpath will be closed from Thursday 15 May to Wednesday 28 May. You can still access the Rivermouth on foot, using the Rivermouth Road footpath at any time.
Event Pack Down (28 May to 2 June)
- The Surfers Point car park will be closed from 6am, from Wednesday 28 May to Tuesday 3 June.
- Surfers Point will fully re-open from 6am on Tuesday 3 June.
Please note
- There will be no vehicle access to the Rivermouth from 17 to 27 May on days the event is running.
- There will be no turn around area in the car park for large vehicles, trailers, caravans and trucks from 2 to 30 May.
- Parking will be available along Surfers Point Road during the event set up and pack down periods.
- On surfing competition days, the Riflebutts Reserve dog exercise area will be closed (due to use for parking), however the dog beach section will remain open.
Pedestrian & Bike Access Information
- Mainbreak will be open to all surfers on non-competition days.
- Southside surfing location will be open for the duration.
- Pedestrians will be able to access the Rivermouth on foot at all times.
- Public toilets and showers will remain open at all times.
This is a free event so please enjoy the event in person at Surfers Point or you can watch it live online.
