Court Awards Significant Penalty for Unauthorised Building Works

The Busselton Magistrates Court has awarded a $55,000 penalty for a landowner’s failure to comply with the Shire’s planning and building requirements.

The matter came to court after numerous attempts by the Shire to have the offending structures brought into compliance had failed, with the landowner refusing to do so.

The Shire encourages community members to do the right thing or ask for planning and building advice if they’re not sure.
