Ebikers Great Ryde Down South

Eight cyclists will hit the road from Fremantle to Margaret River on July 9 to raise money for Bicycles for Humanity WA (B4HWA), a local charity that uses donated bikes to help alleviate poverty through sustainable transport.

The group of Ebikers will head south and ride up to 150kms per day through the towns of Pinjarra, Quindanning, Donnybrook, Greenbushes, Bridgetown, Molloy Island and Margaret River in hopes of raising $10,000 over six days.

Every year around 1.5 million bikes are sold across Australia – around half of these end up unused or abandoned. B4HWA collects, repairs and distributes pre-loved bikes to address the fundamental barriers to development and healthcare in rural Africa.

Since 2011, the non-profit organisation has donated almost 10,000 bikes to partners in Africa and to schools in remote Indigenous communities across Western Australia and the Northern Territory. These bikes help develop country releif and are used in their broader health and retention programs.

Community members are encouraged to show to their support by heading down to the Rotary BBQ Breakfast fundraiser held at the Margaret River Farmers Market on Saturday 15 July following the group’s big ride.
