Environmental Management Fund Grants now open!

The Environmental Management Fund (EMF) Grant Program is a funding stream endorsed by Council to fund projects which achieve local environmental and sustainability outcomes.

The Shire of Augusta Margaret River is excited to announce that applications for its Environmental Management Fund Grants Program are now open. The grants support biodiversity protection, waterway health, coastal management and protection, sustainability and environmental education.

Shire President Julia Meldrum highlighted the importance of these environmental grants, stating that they play a crucial role in helping community groups, organisations and individuals deliver significant projects that promote sustainability and enhance the natural environment.

“Situated within an international biodiversity hotspot, the natural environment of this area is home to numerous endangered and vulnerable species. Supporting local communities in delivering vital environmental projects helps protect and enhance these crucial native habitats," she said.

"Importantly, these environmental grants also support sustainability initiatives and environmental education. They aim to promote renewable technologies and engage the community, highlighting the significant biodiversity values of this area," she said.

With previous funding recipients including projects such as the Regenerative Agriculture Program, Waatu Kaatijin Education Marine Program, Fostering Custodianship of Wooditjup Bilya, Our Patch Environmental Education Program, Margaret River Community Nursery and more, we are pleased to open applications to both established and new environmental projects in the Shire.

Eligible individuals, groups and incorporated not-for-profit organisations are encouraged to check their eligibility and apply for up to $40,000 (ex GST) by the closing date of 5 May 2025 at 5pm. Applications for multi-year funding will be considered.
