Prohibited Burning Period extended

Abnormally dry conditions across the shire and little rainfall forecast for the remainder of March have resulted in the Prohibited Burning Period being extended until Midnight on Friday 28 March 2025.

The Department of Fire and Emergency Services, the Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions, and our local volunteer Fire Control Officers have all agreed that the safest option is to keep current fire restrictions in place.

The current dry conditions mean if a fire was to start, it has the potential, under the right conditions, to create issues for our volunteer firefighters and the community.

To keep our community safe, visitors and residents are urged to be respectful of the following fire restrictions:

•    Burning is NOT allowed at any time.
•    Campfire and firepits are NOT allowed at any time.
•    Burning of garden refuse piles is NOT allowed at any time.
•    Solid fuel BBQs, including pizza ovens, are NOT allowed at any time.

To check the current Fire Danger Rating or to find out if a Total Fire Ban has been issued, visit the Emergency WA website or download the Emergency WA app.

More information about fire requirements during the Prohibited Burning Period can be found in the Firebreak Notice and Bushfire Information 2024-2025 booklet
