Keep an Eye Out for Our New Red-Capped Plover Chick!  Image: Red-capped Plover Chick. Photographer: Joel Hodgson

The tiny chick recently hatched at Gnarabup Beach and is hard to see. It's vulnerable to disturbance, particularly in its first 28 days before it can fly.

The chick feeds itself from day one on insects at the shoreline and rests with an adult bird amongst the seaweed and debris.

Shire Environment staff, with the assistance of a DBCA/Birdlife volunteer, have installed signage in the area.

If you see this little chick or other plovers, please keep your distance.
