There's a new chick on the beach!
It's hard to see the little Red-capped Plover that recently hatched on Gnarabup Beach. It's vulnerable to disturbance, particularly in its first 28 days before it can fly so please look out for it!
The chick feeds itself from day one on insects at the shoreline and rests with an adult bird amongst the seaweed and debris.
Shire Environment staff, with the assistance of a DBCA/Birdlife volunteer, have installed signage in the area.
If you see this little chick or other plovers, please keep your distance.
