The Shire of Augusta Margaret River is pleased to announce that applications for its Major Events Grants Program are now open.

The grants support major events of State or National significance that attract visitors, generate economic activity, engage the community and promote the region.

With previous funding recipients including events such as CinefestOz, Cabin Fever, Margaret River Region Open Studios (MRROS), Cape to Cape MTB, Margaret River Ultra Marathon and more, we are pleased to open applications up to both established and new major events in the shire.

Shire President Julia Meldrum said major events play a vital role in regional economic development, increasing tourism spending while respecting local environmental and cultural values.

"Major events attract visitors who spend in our region, supporting local businesses, creating jobs and strengthening our economy. They also showcase our vibrant arts and music scene, iconic sporting events and renowned food and wine, celebrating our region’s unique culture and sharing it with visitors from across WA and beyond," she said.

“Importantly, major events also help spread tourism throughout the year, driving visitation beyond peak seasons and activating public spaces and townsites to create lively, engaging experiences for both residents and visitors.”

Eligible businesses and incorporated not-for-profit organisations running an event within the Shire of Augusta Margaret River in 2025-26 are encouraged to check their eligibility and apply for up to $20,000 (ex GST) by the closing date of 30 April 2025 at 5pm. Applications for multi-year funding will be considered.

We look forward to receiving your applications and supporting events that enhance the vibrancy and appeal of our beautiful region.
