Margaret River High School Students Welcomed Back for ‘Councillor for a Day’

Running since 2017, the annual Councillor for a Day initiative is an opportunity for local students to learn more about local government and what it’s like to be a Councillor.  

This year, 24 Margaret River High School student councillors attended the Shire offices for an action-packed day where they had the chance to meet Councillors and Shire staff, learn about the newly developed Draft Leisure Plan, participate in a consultation workshop and mock Council Meeting, learn about local government governance, and attend an Ordinary Council Meeting.

Students were enthusiastic and engaged throughout the day, asked a lot of questions, and had some great ideas for the future planning of Margaret River!
