The Fearn Ave Festival Precinct will come to life in the April school holidays with Margs Youth Fest, to be held on Tuesday 9 April from 4pm to 7pm.
The Shire of Augusta Margaret River and its Youth Advisory Council (YAC) are bringing together a jam-packed line up of local youth bands, DJs, stalls and workshops for this free and accessible event.
Taking the stage for the afternoon will be local youth bands The Everlastings, Redshift, The Heirs and The Spectrum, plus local legend DJ Eric will be spinning tunes throughout the event.
Guests will not be short of activities with learn to skate workshops with The Roller Derby, screen printing with The Concrete Club and art workshops with a local First Nations group.
Margi Pride also welcomes attendees to their glitz and glam station where they will be crafting communal wearable art pieces, which will later take to the stage during a fashion show.
Rounding off the festival’s stack of activities is table tennis and basketball, so local youth can play ball with local Police Officers.
Margs Youth Fest is also excited to have the support of the World Surf League and the Margaret River Pro ahead of their main event, with giveaways plus a surf pro commentator as the event’s MC.
The Shire’s Community Development Trainee Aloha Fritsch said the event celebrates local talent while creating a safe, inspiring space for young people to shine.
“A collaboration with the Margaret River Pro, Margs Youth Fest is where the vibrant energy of our youth meets the heart of our community, so come along, enjoy the tunes and join in the fun!,” she said.
The Boardriders will be keeping guests well fed with a sausage sizzle, and burgers plus Mai Tardi Gelato will be on site serving their gelato for dessert.
Margs Youth Fest 2024 will be held at the Fearn Ave Festival Precinct on the Margaret River Main Street and is proudly run by the Shire of Augusta Margaret River and its Youth Advisory Council (YAC) with support from Lotterywest, World Surf League and the Margaret River Pro, The Concrete Club and Margaret River HEART.
