Andrea Selvey Has Begun her Tenure
Andrea Selvey has officially commenced her tenure as the Shire of Augusta Margaret River’s Chief Executive Officer. Andrea took the helm of the Shire on Monday and secured the role after an extensive recruitment process earlier in the year.
Shire President Julia Meldrum expressed confidence in Andrea's ability to lead, citing her strategic vision and strong community focus.
“Andrea is an experienced leader with a proven track record in developing positive relationships and delivering positive outcomes,” said Julia.
“I’m confident we will all benefit from Andrea’s extensive local government experience, and I’m looking forward to working with her to develop a thriving and sustainable future.”
Andrea said she was delighted to have been given the opportunity to lead the Shire.
“It really is an absolute privilege to be here and I am committed to serving the Augusta Margaret River community by delivering initiatives that reflect the decisions and desires of our residents.”
Andrea was most recently the CEO of the Shire of Carnarvon and has spent the past 16 years working in a range of senior local government roles. She is also a former CEO of the Shire of Cocos (Keeling) Islands and the Shire of Dowerin and spent 8 years as the Director of Creative Communities and Community Services for the City of Greater Geraldton. She began her local government career as a Library Clerk at the Town of Bassendean.
Andrea was one of the five candidates shortlisted from the 116 applications received for the position.
