Changes to your pet's microchip registration
Earlier this week, Consumer Protection released official notification that pet owners with microchips registered through HomeSafe ID, should act immediately to re-register their pets with a new database. HomeSafe ID appears to be closing its website, meaning that rangers, vets, and pet owners may no longer have access to the pet’s information when needed. To assist those affected, the Global Micro Animal Registry is offering free re-registration for impacted pet owners. You can learn more and re-register pets through the following link:

For affected pet owners:
š± Review the certificate they received when the pet was first registered. It will display the microchip registration number and the database to which the pet is registered.
š¶ If they are unsure – search petaddress.com.au using the microchip number to check which database holds the pet’s details.
š± If they can’t find the certificate – they can visit a local vet, or ranger who can scan the pet and provide the microchip number and advise on the database where the information is stored.
š¶ If you have your dog's registration tag number you can ring the Shire on (08) 9780 2555 and we can look it up in the system.
š± If the pet is registered with HomeSafe ID or Pet Electronic Tags (P.E.T.S.) Pty Ltd, they will need to re-register the pet with a new service.
š¶ Rescue pet owners are particularly encouraged to verify the database their pet is registered with.
