Poetry Events with Miriam Wei Wei Lo at Margaret River Library Image: Miriam Wei Wei Lo will perform her poetry and run a workshop at the Margaret River Library next week.

Award-winning poet and former Margaret River resident, Miriam Wei Wei Lo will perform her poetry and run a workshop for enthusiasts at Nala Kaatajiin Mia (Our Knowledge House) - Margaret River Library next week.

Miriam will perform works from her latest book Who Comes Calling? followed by a conversation style interview with local poet Ana Brawls on Thursday 18  January from 6pm to 7pm. Miriam’s much-anticipated new collection of poetry wrestles with meaning, motherhood, faith, and doubt, from an Asian-Australian perspective.

Miriam will return to the Margaret River Library to host a workshop on Friday 19 January from 10.30am to 12.30pm. In the workshop, participants will be encouraged and supported to find their own voice and stories on the theme of ‘Writing About Home: The Poetry of Complicated Journeys’.

Miriam Wei Wei Lo (nee Lochore) lived in Margaret River from 2008 to 2018, and many of the poems in her latest collection are set in Margaret River. While living here with her husband and their three children, Miriam connected with local poets and artists and participated in early versions of the Margaret River Readers and Writers Festival.

The Shire welcomes the community to attend the free poetry events which are free and easily accessible, with light refreshments included at the workshop. Bookings are required for the workshop as spaces are limited and can be made by email to [email protected] or phone 08 9780 5600
