With dry conditions and little rainfall forecast across the shire, the Prohibited Burning Period has been extended for a further 7 days, until Midnight on Friday 4 April 2025.
Chief Bush Fire Control Officer David Holland said that if a fire was to start, it has the potential, under the right conditions, to create issues for our volunteer firefighters and the community.
“The Shire has decided to err on the side of caution and extend the Prohibited Burning Period for a further 7 days. This is primarily due to the lack of rainfall, but also due to the absence of rain in the short-term forecast. This extension will be reviewed mid-next week,” he said.
To keep our community safe, visitors and residents are urged to be respectful of the following fire restrictions:
- Burning is NOT allowed at any time.
- Campfires and firepits are NOT allowed at any time.
- Burning of garden refuse piles is NOT allowed at any time.
- Solid fuel BBQs, including pizza ovens, are NOT allowed at any time.
