Take Two! Second Round Grant Funding Now Open Pictured: The Margaret River Ag Show, successful in the first round of funding.

A second round of funding for the Shire’s Community Development and Events Grants is now open for projects starting after 1 February 2024.

Community Development and Events Grants aim to foster community resilience, connection and wellbeing with eligible community organisations able to apply for funding up to $10,000 inc GST.

Projects and events must address one or more of the following priorities:
  • Celebrate and respect diversity, arts and culture, the natural environment, local histories and/or healthy and safe lifestyles.
  • Strengthen community connection and wellbeing, promote participation and access and inclusion.
  • Contribute to lifelong learning, capacity building and/or skill development.
  • Build the capacity of local volunteer organisations.
  • Provide innovative solutions that respond to local issues/needs.

This second round of funding is well timed for community organisations planning projects and events in the first half of next year. It also provides a valuable opportunity for  those who may have been unsuccessful in the previous round to strengthen their applications and for the Shire to ensure we have a diverse array of community-led initiatives being supported.

Grant funding promotes community capacity building, encourages community participation and is an important part of our strategy to foster community connection and wellbeing. We look forward to chatting to organisations before they apply to give them the best chance of succeeding with their applications.

Community organisations who are interested in applying are encouraged to check their eligibility, to discuss their idea with the Shire’s community development team and to apply by the closing date of 4pm on 30 November 2023.
