Together with our community, we have redirected over 24,000 tonnes of waste from landfill!

Did you know that since implementing FOGO, the three-bin system in July 2019 to 30 June 2024, we have redirected enough waste from landfill to fill the Margaret River Rec Centre Pool nearly 80 times over?

While this is a massive achievement, we need to continue to take coordinated action and reduce our waste even more. We have included some useful tips and resources below to help our community continue to do amazing things and care for our place.

As we work towards achieving our target of net zero emissions by 2030, we are also looking to:

  • Provide FOGO bins in public places and implement a commercial three-bin program
  • Investigate commercial waste audits to help businesses address waste streams
  • Work with the construction industry to reduce waste
  • Support waste education and resource recovery programs in schools
  • Working on converting Davis Road Putrescible Landfill site to a transfer station
