Shire President - Julia Meldrum
I have lived in the Shire for over 20 years and in this time have seen such rapid growth. I am dedicated to protecting our beautiful and precious natural environment and responding appropriately to the various challenges that we face now and into the future. This community is truly engaged and it’s an honour and privilege to represent you on the Council. Transparency, accountability, financial diligence and honesty are some of my key priorities whilst I act in my capacity on Council.

I made this area home 16 years ago, drawn by the beautiful natural environment. As an environmental educator, I want to help our region evolve as a vibrant, connected community where the environment and our sense of place is preserved with sensible decisions on development, planning and infrastructure.
I appreciate the opportunity to contribute on behalf of our community to help preserve what we cherish and provide an effective and transparent local government.

I live in Cowaramup and one thing I know is that my incredible experience of community is not limited just to the town in which I live. I know that each town in the entire Shire has the same experience and potential. For each one, I believe that, as we grow, our community’s growth and development needs to be wisely managed, whilst exercising responsible stewardship of all our natural and built resources at the same time.
As a Councillor, I aim to represent the financial, environmental and social needs of our entire Shire.

I have always been drawn to Margaret River. Even after 32 years as a Legal Aid lawyer in regional areas right across the State, the outstanding natural environment and active, vibrant Margaret River community has constantly lured me back. My wife and I settled here in 2019 and we live on a lovely bushy block that has Peppermint Brook running through it.
I feel very privileged to serve as a Councillor. I am dedicated to social justice and the community and look forward to contributing to our unique community.

I grew up in the Southwest and moved to Margaret River in 2006 to have a family and establish roots. I deeply cherish our region and am committed to safeguarding its unique charm, whether it's the natural landscape, cultural heritage, vibrant community, or the array of small businesses that define us. I’ve been a dedicated volunteer for many years ad
Cr Ian Earl
My family has lived in the Augusta Margaret River Shire since 1933 and have all contributed to our community. My wife Helen and I run a small business in Cowaramup and I have been heavily involved in the Cowaramup PC, Cowaramup Bushfire Brigade and most of the sporting clubs of the district.
I was elected to Council in 2009 and have been Shire President and Deputy Shire President.

I’m a fresh face in the shire, moving to Augusta in July 2022, with my husband and son from Fremantle. My strongest core value is connection. My passion is to bring people together, so they feel valued, connected, and heard. Strong communities are created through a sense of belonging.
As a Councillor, I will endeavour to use my strong leadership qualities and my ability to unite a community for the betterment of the entire Augusta Margaret River shire.

I put up my hand to become a Councillor in 2013 because I was frustrated with the council's decisions and how my rates were being spent. I have learnt how important it is to understand both sides of the fence, to know why those difficult decisions are made. We live in an amazing area that needs to be treated with care. Being mindful of the environment and cultural history, while at the same time understanding the need for sensible development.
